An SEO’s Love Letter to Her Web Developer

By Linda Eva Seuna

My dearest web developer,

I know that we sometimes have our differences. You may think that I’m too obsessed with keywords and metadata, while I may think that you’re not paying enough attention to search engine optimisation (SEO). But the truth is, we need each other.

As an SEO, my job is to help websites rank higher in search results. This means making sure that the website is technically sound, that the content is relevant and high-quality, and that the website is linked to by other high-quality websites.

As a web developer, your job is to build websites that are user-friendly, visually appealing, and performant. You also need to make sure that the website is secure and that it can handle a high volume of traffic.

While our jobs may seem different, they are actually very complementary. When we work together, we can create websites that are both SEO-friendly and user-friendly. This means that we can help our clients achieve their business goals, which is what we both want.

Here are a few specific ways that we can work together:

Keyword harmony: I’ll uncover the most relevant keywords that our target audience are searching for and share them with you. You can then weave these keywords into the website’s content, meta tags, and other elements, making our site a magnet for search engines.

Technical fine-tuning: I’ll identify any technical glitches that might be slowing down our website or affecting its performance. You can then step in with your expertise to optimise the website’s structure, speed, and mobile-friendliness, ensuring a seamless experience for both our users and search engines.

Data analysis detectives: I’ll keep a close eye on website traffic, keyword rankings, and user engagement, while you monitor technical performance and user behavior. Together, we’ll analyse this data to uncover valuable insights and make informed decisions for future optimisation.

Structured data implementation: I’ll explain how to implement structured data markup, which is like adding a secret code to our website. This code helps search engines understand our content better, making it stand out in search results.

This is why I strongly believe that when web developers and SEOs work together, they can create websites that are both successful and enjoyable to use. I hope that we can continue to work together to help our clients achieve their business goals.

With love, Your SEO.

P.S. I love you, but sorry to burst your bubble, I have zero plans of parting ways with my dear hubby. It’s a love triangle that ain’t going anywhere! 🙂

Am I the only one who thinks about writing (love) letters to her colleagues? If no, please, feel free to share your experience in the comment section.
